ABOUT NICOLAS PHAM
Nicolas Pham is the Conservative Party candidate in the riding of York South – Weston – Etobicoke. Born in Montreal to Vietnamese refugees, his parents' struggles laid the strong foundation for his life-long interest in justice and freedom.
His academic successes include four separate degrees. He speaks three languages fluently including French.
As a practicing lawyer who often sees the inside of the criminal courts he is a first hand witness to the current catch and release system of justice that the Liberal government has created.
He had an exceptional academic career. Nicolas earned an Honours Bachelor of Science majoring in Life Sciences and a concurrent Bachelor of Arts in French Literature at McMaster University in Hamilton. During his undergraduate studies, he was involved in numerous student organizations including Life is Beautiful, where he volunteered and eventually led a group of his peers to the Dominican Republic on humanitarian house building projects.
Following his graduation, he worked at Laurentian Bank in Toronto. During his tenure at the bank, he developed a strong grasp and expansive knowledge of the banking and financial services industry and it’s regulation in Canada. Nicolas eventually changed career paths that pivoted him to the University of Ottawa – Faculty of Law.
As a student, he volunteered for Probono Students Canada, interned at the Social Security Tribunal Litigation Clinic and as a tax litigation intern at the Department of Justice. These experiences gave him practical experiences in law but also forged a continuing desire to help others.
Upon graduation with both a JD and LL.L, he eventually started his own diverse bilingual legal practice. He has regularly appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court and the Federal Court of Canada for various matters in criminal, tax, corporate and immigration law. The most rewarding aspect of his work as a sole practitioner was empowering individuals and ensuring that their rights are upheld as they navigate the complex legal system. He has taken a special interest in dealing with financial crimes like fraud and money laundering. He has also become an advisor to multiple business leaders and in the fields of commercial real estate and private lending. He also volunteered as Legal Counsel to Veterans Bridging Homes Canada, a Toronto based not-for-profit whose mandate was to provide tiny housing for homeless veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Nicolas has been blessed with professional success but has observed the dramatic reduction in the quality of life of Canadians under the current Liberal regime. The increases to the cost of living, increased criminal activity, and the increased economic threat of the current American administration have inspired and motivated him to run for public office
Nicolas is committed to leveraging his diverse professional and cultural background to dedicate his time in advocating and improving the quality of life for his constituents in York South – Weston – Etobicoke and putting Canada first in each and every policy decision.
